Schalke come back as Dortmund blow 4-0 lead

Borussia Dortmund though that they had won the match when they were leading 4-0. However Schalke 04 came back in the 2nd half and scored four goals. This was a crazy match with everything you can imagine. There were tons of yellow cards, red cards, fighting and plenty of goals.

BVB had a great start as they grabbed a goal in the 15th minute. Christian Pulisic crosses the ball to Nuri Sahin who then passes to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to make it 1-0. In the 18th minute, Dortmund grabbed a second goal as French defender Benjamin Stambouli scores an own goal after Sahin's free kick. Two minutes later, BVB make it 3-0 as Aubameyang gives a beautiful cross to Mario Gotze who headers the ball in the net. The nightmare continues for Schalke as in the 25th minute, Dortmund score again to make it 4-0. As the Schalke defence fails to clear Aubameyang's shot out of the penalty box, Raphael Guerreiro strikes the ball into the goal.

After a fantastic 1st half for BVB, the Signal Iduna Park is rocking, however their party will end in the 2nd half. In the 61st minute, Schalke gets a goal back as Stambouli gives a beautiful pass from halfway to the penalty box for Austrian forward Guido Burgstaller head the back over BVB keeper Roman Weidenfeller. Four minutes later, Schalke equalise again as winger Yevhen Konoplyanka crosses the ball to Moroccan midfielder Amine Harit who strikes it home. It was a great pass by Konoplyanka, however Harit was left completely unmarked by the Dortmund defence giving him an easy opportunity to score. As Schalke are starting to bring the pieces together, in the 72nd minute, Aubameyang gets his second yellow and is sent off after tacking Harit from behind. In the 86th minute, Schalke make it 4-3 as Daniel Caligiuri shoots with his left foot and curves into the net. In the 94th minute, the unthinkable happens. Schalke come back from losing 4-0 at half time, to tie the match 4-4 in injury time. Konoplyanka's corner kick was whipped into the middle, where Brazilian defender Naldo headers the ball in the back of the net.

If BVB would have won this match, they would be back in the title race. However since they lost two points in injury time, Dortmund are in 5th place with 21 points. This was a crucial point for Schalke as they are in 3rd place with 24 points and only five points below Bayern Munich who are top of the table. Dortmund's next match will be away to Bayern Leverkusen, meanwhile Schalke are at home to 1. FC Koln.
