June 4th Daily Update

Today will be the last daily update since many football leagues are being resumed. However be ready for some match preview and reviews. The biggest leagues that have ended their season early is Ligue 1 in France and the Dutch. The Bundesliga and Portugual's Primeira Liga are the biggest leagues that have already resumed games.

  • England:  On May 28, the Barclays Premier League will resume the 2019-2020 season behind closed doors starting from June 17. The English FA have not decided the full schedule of matches yet, but games are expected to happen everyday with each team playing once every four days. The first Premier League games on June 17th are Manchester City vs Arsenal and Aston Villa vs Sheffield United. FA Cup quarter finals will take place on June 27th, semi finals on July 18-19 and the final on August 1st. 
Training sessions with the team are now allowed as Arsenal players are happy to be back.

The Championship (2nd tier) is set to resume the season on June 20th however Queens Park Rangers are opposed to the restart date. The League One (3rd tier) and League Two (4th tier) clubs will have a meeting on Monday June 8 on whether to continue the 2019-2020 season. Premier League and Championship players and staff are being tested for COVID-19 regularly.
    Nottingham Forest players training as their next game is away to Sheffield Wednesday.

    • Italy:  On Monday, the Serie A official Twitter page announced that the league will resume the 2019-2020 season on June 20th behind closed doors after three months without matches. The league will have a match-day every three days until August 2, meaning there will be 124 matches in 44 days. Luckily for Italian football fans there will be games before June 20th, as the 2nd leg of the Coppa Italia semi finals will happen on June 13th and the final on June 17th. Like in the Premier League, Serie A players and staff will be tested for COVID-19 to make sure it is safe to resume football in Italy.

    • Spain: As of May 29, it was confirmed that the La Liga and Segunda Division (2nd tier) 2019-2020 season will resume on June 11. The first game in the La Liga will be the Seville derby between Sevilla FC and Real Betis on June 11. The La Liga and the Segunda Division will have the last games of the season on July 19th as the league will have 11 matchdays in only five weeks. Regular training sessions with all the team members were allowed from June 1. 
    Real Mallorca players training as they host Barcelona on June 13.
