Borussia Dortmund sees off Hertha Berlin

On Saturday Borussia Dortmund (BVB) played Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga at home with a huge crowd of 80, 800 spectators. This is the 2nd match of the season for both teams. Both teams won their opening games last weekend. Each team has their big targets as, BVB's goal is to win the Bundesliga and Hertha Berlin goal is get top 4.

The game was evenly matched in the first 15 minutes. BVB open the scoring as the Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin crosses the ball into the penalty box, for Aubameyang to slot it home. After the 1st goal Hertha Berlin were struggling to create chances. Meanwhile in the 27th minute, the US international Christian Pulisic runs into the penalty box and just misses a crucial opportunity to make it 2-0 as Hertha keeper Rune Jarstein saves it. Dortmund had another opportunity just before half time as the BVB striker Maximilian Philipp tries a shot from 25 yards out, only to denied by Jarstein.

In the 52nd minute Pulisic tries his luck from distance, but his shot goes just wide of the post. 5 minutes later BVB doubled the lead, as Pulisic crosses the ball into the middle to Philipp, then passes the ball behind for Sahin's bullet goal.  Since then the game was calming down, even though Dortmund was dominating in possession. In the 78th minute, German midfielder Gonzalo Castro puts a cross into the penalty box for Philipp, however he missed his chance to score as he shot it just over the crossbar. As Dortmund kept pushing for a 3rd goal the final score was 2-0.

BVB have won their first two games in the season and will face SC Freiburg on September 9th. Hertha Berlin will be facing Werder Bremen on September 10 at home. There is a lot of pressure on Dortmund to preform well in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, but if they keep playing the same way as the past two games then the sky is the limit for BVB.
